investigation of resistance to chocolate spot (botrytis fabae sard) in faba bean (vicia faba l.) in gorgan region

چکیده
fungal diseases, chocolate spot (botrytis fabae sard) is the most destructive diseases of faba bean and causes considerable dramatic damage losses on faba bean yield worldwide. the levels of resistance to chocolate spot were evaluated in 35 faba bean cultivars and one susceptible check (ilb365) and local check (barkat) at the gorgan agricultural research station during the 2010 and 2011 cropping seasons. the obtained results showed a significant difference (p< 0.01) among genotypes for yield, yield component and related traits to disease resistance. barkat, flip03-35fb and flip03-58fb produced the highest plant height, seed yield and 100 seed weight, respectively. in order to determine genotype reaction to chocolate spot, disease symptoms scored in certain intervals until harvest, then audpc, raudpc and saudpc was calculated. a significant variation among the tested genotypes and their reaction to chocolate spot disease was found. results of variance, comparing the mean and also cluster analysis revealed that ilb 365, flip03-57fb, flip03-43fb and flip03-59fb where susceptible. whereas, icarus, flip03-29fb, flip03-30fb, flip03-34fb and flip03-52fb introduced as resistance genotypes to chocolate spot judged by the lowest audpc.

Comparative Analysis of Defense Responses in Chocolate Spot-Resistant and -Susceptible Faba Bean (Vicia faba) Cultivars Following Infection by the Necrotrophic Fungus Botrytis fabae
In this study, resistance responses were investigated during the interaction of Botrytis fabae with two faba bean cultivars expressing different levels of resistance against this pathogen, Nubaria (resistant) and Giza 40 (susceptible). Disease severity was assessed on leaves using a rating scale from 1 to 9. Accumulation levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation and antioxidan...
متن کاملLarge-Scale Transcriptome Analysis in Faba Bean (Vicia faba L.) under Ascochyta fabae Infection
Faba bean is an important food crop worldwide. However, progress in faba bean genomics lags far behind that of model systems due to limited availability of genetic and genomic information. Using the Illumina platform the faba bean transcriptome from leaves of two lines (29H and Vf136) subjected to Ascochyta fabae infection have been characterized. De novo transcriptome assembly provided a total...
متن کاملEnhancing faba bean (Vicia faba L.) genome resources
Grain legume improvement is currently impeded by a lack of genomic resources. The paucity of genome information for faba bean can be attributed to the intrinsic difficulties of assembling/annotating its giant (~13 Gb) genome. In order to address this challenge, RNA-sequencing analysis was performed on faba bean (cv. Wizard) leaves. Read alignment to the faba bean reference transcriptome identif...
متن کاملidentification of sources of resistance to the black bean aphid, aphis fabae scopoli, in faba bean, vicia faba l., accessions
in several parts of the world, important yield losses are caused to faba bean due to attack by the black bean aphid aphis fabae scopoli. although resistance could be a good alternative to chemical control, its genetic basis is still largely unknown; and its phenotypic expression is still poorly described, making crucial the permanent evaluation of genetic resources available in different countr...
متن کاملDiversity in root growth responses to moisture deficit in young faba bean (Vicia faba L.) plants
Background Soil moisture deficiency causes yield reduction and instability in faba bean (Vicia faba L.) production. The extent of sensitivity to drought stress varies across accessions originating from diverse moisture regimes of the world. Hence, we conducted successive greenhouse experiments in pots and rhizotrons to explore diversity in root responses to soil water deficit. Methods A set o...
متن کاملScreening of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) accessions to acidity and aluminium stresses
BACKGROUND Faba bean is an important starch-based protein crop produced worldwide. Soil acidity and aluminium toxicity are major abiotic stresses affecting its production, so in regions where soil acidity is a problem, there is a gap between the potential and actual productivity of the crop. Hence, we set out to evaluate acidity and aluminium tolerance in a range of faba bean germplasm using so...
